Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about Behind The Workflow, from how capture works to what BTW records, sharing and export, the EU AI Act, and getting started on the free plan.
- What is Behind The Workflow?
- Behind The Workflow, or BTW, is production memory for AI creative work. It sits above the tools you already generate in and keeps the full record behind every shot, from the prompt, tool, model and references to the versions, the final decision, the author and the time. Everything stays in one searchable place, so nothing has to be reconstructed weeks later.
- Who is BTW for?
- BTW is built for the people who ship AI creative work under a deadline. Freelancers keep every client project reproducible on their own. Teams and studios share one memory with clear roles. Agencies hand off clean, defensible deliveries to their clients. It scales from a single workflow up to a full studio without anyone changing tools.
- Which AI tools does BTW work with?
- BTW is neutral by design, so it works with any tool you generate in. Assets come into BTW through the browser extension, straight from the tool you made them in, or by direct upload when you already have the files. There is no lock-in to one generator and no plugin to wait for, because BTW sits above the tools rather than inside any one of them.
- Do I have to change the creative tools I already use?
- No. You keep generating exactly where you generate today, and your creative process stays the same. BTW adds a layer of memory around that work rather than replacing any part of it, so the only new step is sending the finished asset into BTW.
- What does BTW record about each asset?
- Each asset carries its full recipe: the prompt that ran, the tool and model behind it, the seed and aspect ratio, the references attached to the shot, the earlier versions in the order they were made, the decision to hold, kill or finalise it, and the author and time. All of it stays on the asset, so it travels together when you share or hand off the work.
- How does the browser extension work?
- The extension lets you capture an asset without leaving the tool you made it in. When a generation is done, you send it into a BTW project in one move, and the prompt, model and references come across attached to the file. Nothing is retyped and nothing is lost on the way in, so capture stays inside the flow you are already in.
- Can I share and export my work, or hand it off to a client?
- Yes. You can share any image or video straight from BTW with its record attached, including the model, prompt, references, decision, author and time. Download in full resolution whenever you need the files, and hand a client the complete documentation in a click, so the person on the other end receives the work and the account of how it was made together.
- How does BTW help with the EU AI Act?
- The EU AI Act sets transparency and documentation duties for AI-generated content that begin on 2 August 2026 under Article 50. BTW produces that documentation by default, as a structured, shareable record of every prompt, model and reference behind each shot. The record is ready when a client, a broadcaster or a rights office asks how the work was made, so the paperwork becomes a byproduct of your normal workflow rather than a separate task.
- Can I prove which references or model produced an image?
- BTW keeps a structured, reproducible record of what you attach and declare for each shot, including the prompt, the model, the references, the versions, the decision, the author and the time. It is honest to call this a declared, reproducible account rather than cryptographic proof that one specific reference or model was used. What you get is a clear, shareable trail of how the work was made, which is what most clients and reviewers actually ask for.
- Does BTW work for teams and agencies?
- Yes. Teams get one shared memory with projects and clear roles, so everyone can see who made which shot, with which model and reference. Agencies can hand each client a clean record of the work and keep their own reproducible archive at the same time. Features and limits are set per workspace, so a studio and a solo artist each get the right shape.
- Is my data secure and GDPR-friendly?
- BTW is built with GDPR in mind and is a European company, so data protection is treated as a starting point rather than an afterthought. You stay in control of your projects, you can export a full backup whenever you want, and the documentation the EU AI Act asks for is produced as part of your normal work.
- How much does BTW cost?
- BTW has a free plan that stays free, and paid plans for freelancers, teams and agencies when you need more. The free plan is enough to set up your first projects and see the whole workflow, and you move up when the work grows. The current plans and prices are on the pricing page.
- How quickly can I start?
- About two minutes. BTW is live, so you can create your first project today, and setting it up takes roughly two minutes. The free plan works without a credit card, so there is nothing to arrange before you begin.
